Timothy Alan Kerr, son of Howard and Doris (Raepe) Kerr, was born on March 30, 1964 in Estherville, IA. He passed away surrounded by his family on July 2, 2024 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD, after complications from a stroke at the age of 60 years. A memorial service for Tim was held on Monday, July 8, 2024 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Graettinger with Pastor John Wolf officiating. Burial took place at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in South Walnut Township, Palo Alto County, Iowa.

Tim graduated from Emmetsburg High School in 1982 and attended Iowa Lakes Community College. He started farming at the age of 18 after the death of his father. He was united in marriage to Kimberly Sindergard on June 21, 1986 at Plover United Methodist Church. To this union, they had two sons, Adam and Arik, born on July 20, 1993. In 1999, the family moved to Cylinder, IA, and Tim began employment at West Bend Elevator Co. in Mallard, IA. In 2003, he began employment at Cylinder Coop, now Stateline Cooperative. During his time as an elevator employee, he mastered any task he was faced with, alongside his son, Adam. He valued hard work and dedication to his family, career, and friends.

In Tim’s spare time, he loved to spend time with his family at Lost Island Lake during the summers, out on the boat and looking for new food and drink recipes to try. In the winter, he looked forward to snowmobiling trips, where he would bring up the rear to make sure everyone came back safe. His newest hobby was bird-watching, where he would sit on the deck listening and watching for birds on the bird feeders. In recent months, a cardinal made its home at their house, singing loudly every day.

Tim was also always willing to drop everything he was working on to help anyone in need. On multiple occasions, he was excited to do so, in order to help one of the kids. He never said no to mowing Adam’s lawn, helping Arik fix various things, or taking spare keys to Kim when she locked her keys in the car. Tim was the happiest when he was with his family, no matter what they were doing.

Tim was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Graettinger, where he was a church council member. Tim was a member of the Cylinder Fire Department, serving as secretary and treasurer. His name will be placed on the door of the firetruck he always drove. On the day he passed, the flag at the fire department was placed at half-mast in his memory.

Tim is survived by his wife of 38 years, Kimberly Kerr of Cylinder, his sons Arik (Holly) Kerr of Emmetsburg, IA and Adam (Sara) Kerr of Cylinder, IA. He is also survived by his sister Vicki (Steve) Rathbun of Rochester, MN, sister-in-law Mary Kerr of Estherville, IA, sister-in-law Tracey Henderson (Paul Myers) of Emmetsburg, IA, many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Tim is preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Doris Kerr, infant brother, Dennis Kerr, brother, Donald Kerr, mother-in-law, Judy Lubinus, father-in-law, John Lubinus, and father-in-law, Darwin Sindergard.
