Funeral services for Kim Moser, 58, of Emmetsburg, Iowa were held Friday, May 24, 2024 at First United Methodist Church in Emmetsburg, Iowa.

Interment was at Evergreen Cemetery in Emmetsburg, Iowa.

Kimberly Rose Moser, daughter of James and Mary (Carney) Moser, was born August 30, 1965 in Emmetsburg, Iowa.  She received her education in Mallard, graduating from Mallard High School in 1983.

On May 28, 1983 Kim was united in marriage to Matthew Gappa.  They were blessed with a son, Nick.  After Matt’s sudden death,  Kim was later married to Jim Sobkoweak.  They were the parents of a son, Ryan and a daughter, Rachel.

Kim was employed as a machinist at Eaton’s in Spencer for several years and then she worked at Flannegan Western, S.N.C. and was plant manager at I.E.I. all in Emmetsburg.

Kim opened the Rack Shack in Cylinder and began a catering business.  She was a huge supporter of Cylinder and sponsored several events outside the Rack Shack.  These events were filled with lots of fun and delicious food.  Kim enjoyed having Rachel, Nick and Buck all help at the restaurant.  She and Buck were married in 2015.  They purchased a building in Emmetsburg and established KimBucks Cuisine.  They not only owned and operated the restaurant and bar but continued their catering business as well.  They later expanded to provide the meals for Meals on Wheels in several communities.

Kim loved being with her family and was very proud of her children and grandchildren.  She was always the “life of the party” and you never knew what to expect when she was around.  Her infectious laugh would bring a smile to everyone’s face and she was always ready for a good time.  One of Kim’s greatest enjoyments was the trip she took with Kerry and Dan to the Dominican Republic.  Kim didn’t know a stranger and if she met someone she enjoyed, they soon became her friend.

Kim was a member of the Garden Club in Emmetsburg and enjoyed getting together with other members.  She was an avid Euchre player and looked forward to playing at the bowling alley with her mom as her partner.  Kim had a love of horses since she was young.  She enjoyed riding them and when she was older, raising them.

Kim passed away Monday, May 20, 2024 in Rochester, Minnesota at the age of 58.  She was preceded in death by her father, James Moser; her husbands, Matt Gappa and Bill “Buck” Moser; and her daughter, Rachel Jackson.

She is survived by her sons, Nick and Karmen Gappa of Cylinder, Iowa and Ryan and Jenny Sobkoweak of Fonda, Iowa; her grandchildren, Jeremy, Sabrina, Kaleb, Hannah, Brooke, Lawson, Jr., Karsten, Destiny, Cassi, and Bre; her mother, Mary Moser of Emmetsburg, Iowa; brother, Jamie and Carmen Moser of Cylinder, Iowa; sisters, Kerry and Dan Heckman of Kansas City, Missouri and Kelly and Steve Gentry of Plainview, Minnesota; nieces, nephews, and countless cousins friends.
