Donald "Don" Crocoll

Funeral services for 87 year old Donald Crocoll will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, July 12, 2024 at Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg, Iowa. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until the service begins. Interment is at Valley View Cemetery in Graettinger, Iowa.

Donald Jacob Crocoll, son of Thomas and Anna (Sivecz) Crocoll, was born on March 11, 1937 in Buffalo, New York.  He was educated in the Lackawanna New York School System and at the age of 18, Don joined the United States Marine Corps, serving 20 years in the service.

During his career in the U.S. Marine Corps, Don served two tours in Vietnam and saw many countries throughout the world.  He received a Purple Heart for being wounded in action.  After being honorably discharged from his military service, Don worked as a City Mail Carrier for the Emmetsburg Post Office.

On January 2, 1992, Don was united in marriage to Inalee Lammers at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.  They were blessed with a son, Thomas Dwayne. Don then became a stay at home dad and helped homeschool Tom.  Don enjoyed following all of Tom’s varied activities and also looked forward to visiting with friends of Bill W.  Don was an avid Buffalo Bills and Chicago Cubs fan.

Don passed away Saturday, July 6, 2024 at the Emmetsburg Care Center, with his wife by his side.  Don was 87 years old.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Anna Crocoll; a brother, William Crocoll; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dwayne and Lois Lammers; brother-in-law, David Patterson; and one grandson.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Inalee of Emmetsburg, Iowa; son, Thomas Crocoll of Cherry Point Marine Base, North Carolina; stepsons, Stephen Boice of Decorah, Iowa and Joshua Boice of Yankton, South Dakota; sisters-in-law, Sheree Patterson of LaVista, Nebraska, Linda Lammers (Lawrence Brabham) of Valrico, Florida and Rhonda Lammers of Graettinger, Iowa; brother-in-law, Dean Lammers (Sandi) of Corning, Iowa; children from a previous marriage, Sherry, Laura, Tracey and Jeff; many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
