With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Dale Allen Zaugg. Dale was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, born in West Bend, Iowa, to David and Myrtle Zaugg. He was the only son among his six sisters. He is survived by his sister, Judy Schmidt (married to Jerry Schmidt).

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, September 27th from 2p-4pm at the Emmetsburg Senior Center at 2008 11th Street. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to https://donate.operationhomefront.org in his memory, reflecting his generosity and love for helping others.

Dale was married for 68 years to his loving wife, Priscilla (Tobin) Zaugg. Together, they raised four children: Joe (Carolyn) Zaugg, Mary Bradley, David Zaugg, and Margaret (John) Kahn. He leaves behind five grandchildren: Robert (Terry) Hendricks, Jonna (Jason) Catenaccio, Justin (Brenda) Zaugg, Dorthey (Robert) Nelson, and John Kahn II; and six great-grandchildren: Kylan Gillette, Cheyenne Gillette, Madison Catenaccio, Mason Catenaccio, Cody Clark, and Adam Nelson. Dale’s extended family includes his daughter-in-law Judy Zaugg, brother-in-law, Paul Schnell; sister-in-law, Kathleen Tobin; Nephew Sid (Karen) Zylstra and numerous other nieces, nephews, and friends.

Dale served, with honors, in the US Air Force, where he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal for his exemplary service as a member of the 1607th Field Maintenance Squadron.

As a husband, father, and friend, Dale was a man of immense strength, kindness, and compassion. Dale’s life was a testament to his faith and integrity. Although we grieve his passing, we find comfort in knowing that he is now at peace, and we are forever grateful for the profound impact he had on our lives.
